Sunday March 3rd 8:30 pm at Finger Lake—- Today was a rush-rush day doing the restart and then flying here to Finger Lake. Like previous years I had my friend Ron Halsey running me and this year’s assistant Erin Hooley around on a snowmachine. It was buisiness as usual on Long Lake where many, many fires and picnics were being held on the balmy 32 degree day. There was a big crowd out to see the mushers, lots of high-fives. I could see the top mushers had their brakes on to keep their teams slowed down because of the heat. Lots of action in the chute and elsewhere. Seems like the re-start went off without any major hitches. Iditarod pilot Danny Davidson flew Erin and I up to Finger Lake where we are now at Winter Lake Lodge. Great people, great lodge. Mushers shoul be here in the wee hours tomorrow and I hope to be up then.
Jeff, your shots are what bring this event alive. Thanks for capturing what we volunteers and fans strive to remember in our humble efforts. Love, love, love your work.
