It’s early evening and I’m in the ghost-town of Iditarod. Woke up early this morning at Takotna, shot some images just before dawn and then Erin and I flew with Danny Davidson to Iditarod. The forecast was for really high winds, which we experienced just a bit of turbulence on the way over. Because of the warm snow conditions making for a soft runway here in Iditarod, the Iditarod pilots are ferrying only 1 passenger and gear at a time. Therefore, with the minimum accommodations here in Iditarod, I sent Erin ahead to Shageluk and I’ve been shooting and doing the captioning and uploading. My it’s a lot of work. It’s been a great time here in Iditarod with lots of teams coming and great people. One of them, here to represent race sponsor GCI is my friend from Anchorage, Mark Carlson. He took me out by sno-go to shoot a team and then helped me out by cutting some willows to clear a shot for me on another venture as we watched a few teams come in. We had lots of time to chat as we waited for teams. It was good to have a friend out here.
