What was formerly Chester creek running through town, Westchester Lagoon here in Anchorage has been a wonderful escape from the urban landscape since the early 1970’s. Thousands of people use this wonderful area of land year ‘round. Summer finds residents and visitors, biking, skateboarding, rollerblading, walking or jogging on one of Anchorage’s many paved bike paths and winter brings out those on ice skates (the city plows the snow off the lagoon and floods a large area) and the bike path turns to x-c ski trails. Stand or sit along Westchester at any given time, and much of Anchorage will pass by. Such was my time there last night. For about an hour my assistant Trent and intern Lauren watched and walked around a hundred or so yard length and found some wonderful people to photograph and converse with. Here are their photos.
