My new venture into photo workshops and tours is in full swing this past week with one at Ultima Thule Lodge and two others at nearby Colony Glacier in the Matanuska Valley. I spent last Friday at Colony Glacier with a custom workshop for 5 people. Cool thing on this one was that we flew in a helicopter to get there. Not much hiking needed. On Sunday I led another trip to Colony Glacier with Matt Ellis & Brian Weeks, this one sponsored by Stewart’s Photo Shop. For this one we flew in Cessna 185 planes. It was a full-day workshop where we had ten participants on this sold-out trip. The day there was just spectacular with a ton of sun. I failed to wear sunscreen or a hat and now have raccoon eyes and a fire-engine red face. The icebergs were wonderfully scattered all about the lake which helped make for some great images. The wind came up substantially about mid-day and by the time we left the majority of the bergs was stacked along the lake shore.
