The clouds broke quite a bit on the horizon last night during a stock shoot in midtown at 10pm, with great dark clouds to the east with piercing light. After the shoot I drove to the Glen Alps overlook to enjoy the 11:30 pm sunset with a number of other people doing the same thing, and a hoard of mosquitoes too. The light was spectacular. I was shooting in many directions, with two bodies, three lenses and wishing I had more than one tripod to be able to capture more, faster. My favorite here of these three is what I’m calling “Wisps of McKinley #2” (seen above). The sun is lighting up the clouds and just a hint of Mt. McKinley, some 160 miles away is poking its head above a cloud layer. Shot with a Canon 400mm lens.

Sunset over the Anchorage bowl, shot with a Canon 24-70mm lens at 33mm

Sun on the trees, shadows on the peak, shot with a Canon 70-200mm at 200mm
