Last night we arrived into Unalakleet with winds over 30mph with blowing snow. Our Iditarod Air Force Pilot, Jerry, did a flawless job on landing in those conditions. Once we hit the ground and found a ride to our bed for the night, Jeff went out and took some beautiful photographs from the sunset. Unalakleet is located at the mouth of the Unalakleet River and on the edge of Norton Sound. It is the first checkpoint that takes the mushers up the coast and on their way to the finish line in Nome. Here are a couple photographs from yesterday evening and this morning in Unalakleet.
