Today was the Ceremonial Start of the 2016 Iditarod Trail Race. All the mushers and their dogs started in downtown Anchorage this morning to make their annual trek through town. With the lack of snow this year, the ceremonial trail was shortened to 3 miles instead of the usual 11 miles. Dogs and mushers alike were excited to begin the race. The restart will be held tomorrow in Willow and many fans will be there cheering on the mushers as they officially begin their journey to Nome. We are looking forward to another great adventure and documenting this Last Great Race. Check back daily for new photographs and stories from the trail as we forge on with the dogs and mushers.
