History and Information about this location
Bear Glacier lagoon is located 12 miles to the southwest of Seward, Alaska. Much of it is in Kenai Fjords National Park. The lagoon is what’s known as a proglacier lagoon, meaning a lake which forms between the receding glacier and the moraine it created. A moraine is the gravel rock formation it made as it pushed the debris downhill. Many people kayak, camp and paddleboard in the area during summer months.
